On 9^th Sep, at the headquarters of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met Minister of Post and Telecommunications Tram Iv Tek, Cambodia. At the meeting, Minister Tram Iv Tek have declared that they will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Cambodia as well as the projects has been operating in Cambodia as the projects of VNPT, Viettel ... Minister also said that Viettel Corporation has built the largest mobile network in Cambodia (Metfone) with market share of 46%.

Viettel’s Metfone was officially opened in 2009 in Cambodia. The first service that Viettel provided in Cambodia is VoiP service (in 2006). On 19th Feb, 2009 Viettel officially opened the telecommunications service in this country. Up to now, after 7 years of operation, Metfone has become the largest supplier of telecommunications services in Cambodia, with infrastructure of about 7,000 BTS, 20,000 km of fiber cable, coverage network reaching 97% and about 5.5 million subscribers.

With the philosophy "doing business associated with social responsibility", Metfone not only focused on developing the business, but also had an important contribution in improving and enhancing the quality of life, education, health care for the people of Cambodia.

In addition, in May 2016, Brand Finance – the world’s leading company in consulting strategic and evaluating brands, based in the UK, has published a list of the most valuable telecom brands in Southeast Asia. Accordingly, Metfone of Viettel has increased immediately up to 10% in the last year, continued in the top 30 of telecom brand in the region and is the most valuable telecoms brand in Cambodia. Specifically, Metfone’s brand value has increased from 85$ million in 2015 to 94$ million in 2016, nearly double the nearest rival.
