Viettel has successfully produced the 4G transceiver device

Viettel has revealed on successful testing and production of 4G infrastructrue equipment. With this remarkable result, Viettel promises to deploy 4G as did with the 2G network boosting the booming of mobile broadband services.

The devices produced by Viettel also has similar features of ones which today is the world’s leading manufacturers. Viettel have revealed plans to officially roll out the 4G services in Laos, Timor-Leste and 3 other provinces of Vietnam in the first –quarter while is now focusing on researching of 4G core network (EPC) and testing of Site Router Transmission equipment. It is estimated that all imported devices will be replaced by “Made by Viettel” products on 2018.

Traditionally, Viettel started to participate in the field of researching and manufacturing telecommunication equipments while there had been only 5 suppliers in the world. Our strategy is to expand business into the field of research and production with aiming  to achieve at least 70% of our infrastructure will be made by Viettel by 2020. All components from the core network (VOCs, MSC, EPC, IMS), the transmission network (Site Router) to the access network (eNodeB) of Viettel shall no longer be dependent on any vendors.

Viettel has previously developed customer management systems, 3G switches PBX systems, and PBX systems combined with message filtering system to block spam messages which is the heart and brain of telecommunications network. These systems have been put into Viettel’s network operation in domestic and oversea markets. Besides the telecommunications equipment, high-tech manufacturing field has brought nearly 10,000 billion VND in revenue to Viettel and reduce the nation’s foreign currency due to import from oversea. With the Defense industry, Viettel has manufactured information machines, radars, control systems and autopilot aircrafts…

With proven capabilities in the field of research and manufacturing for military and the government, Viettel has been trusted to build a high-tech industrial and defense complex. After the tour into Viettel’s facility, Mr Truong Minh Tuan has expressed: “I am really impressed with Viettel’s recent activities of research and production. This is a new, long-term direction and expected to help Viettel become a group who not only provide services but also develop high-tech devices. It is possible to achieve the objective of becoming a unique research-manufacture complex by 2020.

Ahead of our schedule, Viettel will provide 4G officially nationwide in Q1/2017 on the 1,800 MHz band. Viettel’s 4G coverage will be as broad as the previous 2G network with 35,000 stations and Viettel’s 4G data rate shall be cheaper than the current rates. Previously, Viettel has successfully tested 4G technology in Ba Ria Vung Tàu last year. The test results showed that Viettel 4G had stable quality which the actual speed with the most modern devices had reached 289Mbps (International standard is 300Mbps).

"Viettel will deploy 4G as we did for the 2G network, aiming to universalize mobile services to all users and bring Vietnam to the top high rankings on the world’s telecom map. We wish to put Vietnam on the list of 30 countries with the most powerful 4G deployment around the world in the coming years” said Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, the General Director of Viettel.

On the ceremony day, Mr. Truong Minh Tuan also confirmed "I hope and trust that Viettel will take the lead in providing 4G services to people again on a national scale, continuously asserting its position as the leading firm in the field of Telecommunications and Information Technology and one of the leading economic groups as well as contributing sharply to the Vietnam’s economy growth and keeping the mission of a military-based group”.
