Viettel officially launches 4G, covering the whole country

On April 18, Viettel Corporation officially launched 4G network nationwide with 36,000 base stations.

Viettel also said that it will provides 4G packages for customers with prices expected to be 40-60% cheaper than 3G. This network also demonstrates the determination to realize the aspirations of every citizen to own a smartphone that can connect to high-speed Internet for work, study, and entertainment, as well as supporting every aspect of life.

According to representatives of Viettel, usually, when implementing 4G, mobile operator around the world are firstly focused on deploying coverage in urban areas, then spread to rural areas. Though, with the desire to create the best broadband infrastructure of the highest quality, Viettel has made a strategic decision: 4G deployment on a large scale from urban to the shallow, deep-lying and remote areas. With 36,000 BTS covering 95% of the population, it can be said that Viettel is the first operator in the world to have 4G coverage nationwide right from the launch of the service.

In addition, with the opinion to invest in a super speed and the most modern 4G network in the world, 100% of Viettel’s 4G transmission stations are using 4T4R antenna technology to extend coverage 1.4 times, double compared to 2T2R technology. Therefore, Viettel commits to an average download speed in its 4G network of 30-50 Mbps, or 7-10 times higher than the 3G network. With this speed, 4G Viettel not only provides customers with a variety of utilities, but also a platform to bring information technology widely applied in many fields such as health, education, agriculture, especially the development of e-government, which support for public administration activities ...

At the launching ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister - Vu Duc Dam gave congratulations to Viettel via video conference which was set up on Viettel 4G network. The Deputy PM also highly appreciated the policy of Viettel in providing free health, education, agriculture information for everyone as well as the active participation of Viettel in developing digitized knowledge for Vietnamese.

"Many people are concerned that the faster technology grows, the more difficult it is to access because of the high costs, the provider will take into account the benefit without paying attention to people in remote areas. However, with the view of building 4G network "for everyone", Viettel will not let any Vietnamese stand outside the development of technology flow. We want to bring 4G to all Vietnamese people across the country, even the most remote areas." said Mr. Hoang Son, Deputy General Director of the Viettel Group.
