The Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) presented 178 remote healthcare consultation centers, worth VND 19 billion, to the Ministry of Health, in the hope of improving healthcare for both troops and people.

The funds to build these centers were contributed by Viettel Group’s cadres and employees, the presentation of such centers is among the group’s activities to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

One center is located in the Medical Examination and Treatment Management Department under the Health Ministry, 27 are in hospitals in cities, and 150 are in province- and district-level hospitals, which account for ten percent of public hospitals nationwide.

These centers will mobilize different sources and boost inter-hospital consultations to help patients receive timely and proper treatment.

Apart from 178 remote consultation centers, the military telecoms giant completed the construction of 1,000 remote medical examination and treatment facilities, 15 days ahead of the deadline.

According to Major General Le Dang Dung, Acting Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, as the largest telecoms group in Vietnam, Viettel defines its social responsibility as applying technology to solve problems in life. “Viettel commits to work with the health sector to build, step by step, a healthcare and disease prevention system based on digital technology,” Dung said.

The goal of a remote consultation center is to provide health counseling, timely diagnosis and treatment, and quality medical services for all people regardless of where they live.

Moreover, doctors at district-level can receive regular and ad hoc expertise support from doctors at other hospitals based on information technology platform. This will help increase the efficiency of disease prevention and control, reduce overcrowding at city-and province-level hospitals, and raise the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.
