3 Hong Kong launches voice-over-Wi-Fi service
The new service allows subscribers with compatible devices to make calls via Wi-Fi hotspots across the country. The operator claims that its VoWi-FI technology can ‘facilitate a seamless handover’ with its existing voice-over-Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) service, and will improve the quality of indoor calls.

Additionally, 3 Hong Kong has introduced a new voice package offering an extra 1,000 minutes of calls for HKD10 (USD1.29) per month.
Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings (HTHKH) chief operating officer Jennifer Tan commented: ‘Comprehensive network coverage is the pre-requisite for an excellent mobile communications service, which 3 Hong Kong has achieved. This is especially the case since our 4G LTE launch – plus the provision of more than 16,000 Wi-Fi hotspots – makes us Hong Kong’s largest-scale Wi-Fi service provider.’
