Apple launches Android trade-in program
Customers in participating countries can now trade in select Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry devices and receive credit towards the purchase of iPhone 5c, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus smartphones, 9to5mac reported.
Apple has expanded its smartphone trade-in program to cover Android and other competing devices.
The company’s newly-launched trade-in program in China does not currently support trade-ins from rival vendors.
Under the Chinese trade-in program, customers who originally purchased their iPhones in China will be able to trade devices as old as the iPhone 4 towards store credit for newer devices.
IDG News Service reported that newer iPhone 5 units will likely receive more than 1,000 yuan ($161) in store credit.
Apple has been expanding its retail presence – as well as its market share - in China, and plans to bring both Apple Pay and Apple Watch to the market.
