China Mobile taps ZTE to deploy VoLTE in Hunan
China Mobile has contracted ZTE to roll out VoLTE services in Hunan Province as part of the operator's ongoing 4G migration.
ZTE will provide end-to-end VoLTE capabilities, co-ordinating the components of the network across the circuit switched, IMS and evolved packet core domains.
The contract follows a large-capacity field-test in the region that exceeded all specifications and requirements, ZTE said in a statement announcing the deal.

Hunan was the first province to receive a completed 4G+ network from China Mobile. The operator considers VoLTE to be a key technology for its extensive LTE network.
ZTE has been a major supplier of LTE-related equipment to China Mobile. In August it was awarded one of the largest shares of the operator's phase 2 CM-IMS tender, which covers provinces including Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Shandong, Sichuan and Fujian.
“ZTE is committed to industry-leading innovations in IMS and VoLTE solutions to help operators deliver converged communication services,” the company said.
“ZTE has received more than 170 contracts for commercial and trial IMS networks with a combined capacity for 220 million subscribers across the world, including deployments in North America, Spain, Singapore, Poland, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.”
