China Telecom expands footprint to Africa, Middle East
China Telecom Global (CTG) has established China Telecom (Africa and Middle East) as the regional headquarters in the African and Middle East (MEA) region. CTG’s network capabilities currently cover the UAE, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt and Nigeria.
The company plans to continue its network expansion across the region. Earlier in March, CTG sealed the deal with Wananchi Group, East Africa’s leading telecom operator for the 428 km National Optical Communication Infrastructure in Malawi.
China Telecom has reportedly set up a unit to help manage its businesses in Africa and Middle East as mobile subscriptions grow on the continent mostly known as the mobile-first world (Source: Techmoran.com)
China Telecom (Africa and Middle East) will oversee all the market development, network construction, business development and management of subsidiaries in the region, as well as assist MNCs, in particular the Chinese corporations, to grow their footprint in the area.
