The Tanzanian press concern about Halotel's fast pace
Halotel is one of the fastest growing telecommunications companies in Tanzania. Started operating in Tanzania from 2015, Halotel has 3.5 million users currently. As of March 31, 2017, the company occupied 9% of the market, surpassing companies that have been doing business for more than 10 years in this market such as Zantel, Tanzania Telecom and Smart to stay in the forth in Tanzania (after Vodacom, Tigo and Airtel).
According to Le Van Dai, Managing Director of Halotel, the success comes from different ways of dealing with competitors. Instead of concentrating its investment in large metropolitan areas, Halotel strives to bring its services to remote areas, bringing telecom connections to previously isolated areas (without network).
Specifically, Halotel has invested at least $ 700 million in developing telecommunication infrastructure in Tanzania, covered 95% of Tanzania and reached at least 3,000 villages which have not known about the concept of "telecommunications" previously. Halotel Representative said the investment in Tanzania's telecommunications development is expected to be $ 1.7 billion, so the changes that Halotel will bring to Tanzania's telecommunications industry are worth the wait.
In addition to the telecom infrastructure, online payment services (Halopesa) and the Halotel data platform are also in Tanzania market. It is known that Halotel is trying to bring additional services for these products.
Revealed to the press, head of Halotel Tanzania, said: "We have a comprehensive strategy, with strategies for Halopesa products aligned with the new governmental financial policies." In addition, Halotel has been, and will continue to cooperate with financial institutions, focus on attracting customers to use the service through Halopesa.
Previously, Halotel announced that it would spend $ 100 million to expand its network and improve services to further penetrate the telecom market in Tanzania. Viettel's network in Africa is expected to reach 7 million customers this year.
