Viettel among the world telecom operators
China Mobile remains the world’s largest telecom operator by a stretch, according to the report from Wireless Intelligence which pegged it at 826 million subscribers – owning 60% of market share in China, a significant margin ahead of second-placed. The biggest operators in India is Airtel which is ranked second place with over 382 million customers. The quantity of operators in the two countries is the main reason causing the outstanding difference between the China Mobile and Airtel. While in China, there are only 03 providers are state-owned enterprises, in India, a fierce competition is booming among 12 state-owned and private operators.

Southeast Asia has three representatives in the top 20, and it is notable that Viettel - the 1st ranking operator in Vietnam passed 66.4 million subscribers, jumping nine places compared to the same period in Q4 2014 - to move into nineteenth place. The two others operators in South East Asia ranked in the 7th place with 152 million subscribers and 18th place with 69.7 million subscribers – are all Indonesian operators named Telkomsel and Indosat.

In the large segment – Group ranking, the database showed that Viettel with 10 members in 10 countries all over 3 continents, which ranked 20th place behind a lot of big telecom brands such as: Vodafone Group (1st), Airtel Group and Telefonica Group… There is still a huge gap between Viettel and other big Groups. In the upcoming times, with the efford of expanding coverage and revenue growth in many new lands, Viettel is hopefully joined the “Club 100” (Group has more than 100 million subscriber) and it aims to make world top 10 list by 2020.
