On March 11th, PM Dung escorted by General Phung Quang Thanh, Minister of National Defence and other high-ranking military and civilian officials visited the group.

At the meeting, Major General Nguyen Manh Hung, Viettel’s CEO, reported on the group’s achievements over the past time. Accordingly, last year, Viettel’s turnover reached VND 197 trillion, an increase of 20 per cent. It made pre-tax profit of VND 42 trillion, up by 15 per cent, and contributed to the State’s budget more than VND 15 trillion, a 10 per cent increase.

Notably, Viettel has generated jobs for nearly 85,000 people, including 10,000 people in seven foreign countries where it officially operates.

Having heard the report, the PM highly appreciated the group’s impressive accomplishments. He held that while visiting countries where Viettel has invested, he was very proud to listen to local leaders’ praise for Vietnam’s achievements and Viettel’s contribution to their countries’ development.

In his visit to the Viettel Research and Development Institute and the group’s hi-tech building at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, PM Dung paid much attention to such products studied and produced by Viettel’s engineers themselves as new-generation radars, the system monitoring and defending national airspace, and communications equipment, and regarded them as products with strategic meaning on defence-security.

The PM said that Viettel has good the leadership, solidarity, aspiration, righ strategies and high-quality staff. That is the reason why Viettel has developed rapidly over the past years.

He asked the group, in the time to come, to focus on telecoms, information technology, post, delivery, television and defence industry.

He also agreed on some Viettel’s proposals and requested Viettel’s leaders to keep striving for better achievements.
