Viettel in The world's top 50 first enterprises successfully deploy IoT network

| Viettel Headlines
Viettel Group is the only representative of Vietnam to successfully deploy NB-IoT as announced by the World Mobile Association (GSMA).

Information presented before the World Mobile Conference (MWC) 2019 with the theme "Intelligent Connectivity” takes place in Barcelona (Spain) from February 25-28.

According to the list of the first 50 operators in the world successfully deployed NB-IoT (technology to deploy universal connection) announced by the World Mobile Association (GSMA), Viettel Group is the only representative of Vietnam to contribute.

Internet of Things – IoT is an inter-network, in which connected devices, smart devices, and other devices are embedded with electronic components, software, and sensors with computer network connection capability makes it possible for devices to collect and transmit data. The characteristics of this group are low-speed communication. NB-IoT technology is capable of disconnecting the device when it is inactive. Thus, the contact time of the terminal is extended to 5 years without changing the battery.

The list of the world's top 50 technology enterprises successfully implemented IoT technology.

The representative of the Group said that after two years of experimental research, in December 2018, engineers had successfully activated the first 30 broadcasting stations with the platform to provide services using NB-IoT technology in Hanoi. Viettel became the first operator in Vietnam to successfully deploy a commercial IoT network. The entire infrastructure system and foundation for IoT of the group are ready to provide customers in the first quarter of this year.

Under the plan, full NB-IoT coverage in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will be completed in the first quarter before gradually investing nationwide and overseas markets.

Mr. Cao Duc Thang, Deputy General Director of the Group said that Viettel determined to become a pioneer enterprise in the 4.0 revolution in Vietnam. Currently, the concept of customers has been expanded, not just people, customers are all things.

It is estimated that by 2020, about 20 billion devices will be fitted with sensors and controllers via NB-IoT technology, accounting for 74% of the total equipment used globally. Nearly 40,000 4G stations spanning Vietnam are one of the major advantages of businesses in proactively deploying IoT.

"Successful deployment of NB-IoT is how we realize Viettel's mission, demonstrating our commitment and efforts for a smarter society," said the group's leader.

This group continues to test a number of applications based on connection infrastructure and IoT platform such as smart parking, air monitoring, location tracking, metering devices ... These are the initial applications to create a basis for the development and explosion of ecosystem of IoT services in the near future.
