Viet Nam News (VNS) reports that the MIC is compiling a draft circular on the management of telecoms service charges to replace Circular 02/2007/ TT-MIC, under which operators have to submit their tariffs charges with the MIC for approval.

According to Viettel’s deputy director Hoang Son, the military-run telco has requested that the government impose minimum and maximum call charges on cellcos, while also introducing a time limit on promotions for pre-paid mobile telephony services.

Phan Tam, director of the MIC’s Telecommunications Department, said the ministry would take into account Viettel’s proposals and continue to study and work with telecoms operators to develop and manage charges and tariffs, in accordance with new policies on managing competition.
