Vietnam's President visit Bitel - a member of Viettel Group in Peru

On the occasion of attending the 24th High-level Week of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Peru from November 17-20, President Tran Dai Quang visited Bitel - a telecom operator which invested by Viettel Group in Peru on 18 October, 2016

In this meeting, the leading representative of Viettel Group and some heads of Viettel local branches in Peru reported though telecommunications bridge on operational status and business results of the company.

On reporting of Mr Tao Duc Thang - Deputy General Director of Viettel Group who is in charged of Peru market, the average monthly revenue of Viettel Peru reached nearly USD 15 million. Total cumulative sales reached nearly USD 280 million. The growth rate of revenues in the first 6 months of 2016 doubled compared to the same period in 2015. Revenue from 3G services also increased 4.5 times over the same period last year. Development speed of Bitel subscribers has reached 41%, higher than 5 times the growth rate of the whole telecommunications industry throughout Peru (8%). Up to now, total subcribers of Bitel is 2.8 million subscribers and is 100% were 3G. Until now, Bitel has had positive profit after 2 years doing business.

Bitel is the only network in Peru have provided 3G mobile services while neglect 2G technology and is preparing for 4G in the incoming time. In particular, on the occasion of Peru hosted the summit of Economic Cooperation Forum Asia - Pacific (APEC 2016), the network has set a record of 4G coverage on entire capital Lima (Peru) only within 20 days, to serve the Forum participants.

Bitel is beloved by indigenous people because of not only providing the best quality of Internet service but also sharply contributing to universal high-speed Internet to remote areas of Peru. Bitel is appreciated highly by Peru Government on widespread fiber optic network infrastructure which has created a revolution in freight rates to help Peru’s people using telecommunications services with high quality and contributed to erase the gap in technology between urban and rural areas, that no other providers could do in the past.

After listening to the report and recommendations of Viettel in Peru, President Tran Dai Quang has praised the efforts of all the staff and workers in overcoming difficulties in a new market and bringing economic benefits to the Viet Nam. President also has appreciated the achievements of Viettel in Peru, that has contributed to improve life quality of Peru, helped to strengthen the relations about economy and political between Viet Nam and Peru.

President affirmed that this is the typical project represents a Vietnam image of innovation, dynamic and active international integration and friendship of Vietnam - Peru. "The Party and State always interested in supporting enterprises to remove difficulties and to overcome challenges to achieve more success in investment and business activities in Peru" said the President.
