Viettel joint venture in Mozambique offers software to high schools
Speaking at the handover ceremony in the capital city of Maputo on August 5, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Nguyen Van Trung said the launch of M-Escola demonstrates the long-term commitment of Movitel and Vietnamese investors to Mozambique.
Minister of Education and Human Development of Mozambique Jorge Ferrao lauded the partnership between the country’s education sector and Movitel which shows the great friendship between the two countries.
Mozambique hopes to learn from Vietnam’s experience in improving educational standards, the minister said, adding that he plans to visit Vietnam this year and will be accompanied by a group of eleven primary teachers who will exchange educational experience with Vietnam.
Founded in 2012, Movitel is now a leading mobile operator in Mozambique.
It has provided free Internet access to about 2,500 schools and exclusive promotions for students and teachers across the country. It has also helped build 22 classrooms for computing education in eleven provinces.
