Donation of Viettel Burundi to vulnerables

On July 04, 2016, in the province of Makamba Kibago commune, Viettel Burundi SA in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and the fight against AIDS and under the patronage of Honourable President of the Senate of Burundi officially launched a project which involves the distribution of 6,000 health insurance cards to vulnerables.

These cards will be distributed in 3 provinces including Makamba, Kirundo and Cibitoke province and in each province 2,000 vulnerable’s families will benefit from this donation. These health insurance cards (CAM) allow beneficiaries to access to health care wherever they are. The total value of this project is 29,485,600 Burundian francs.

Lumitel (brand name of Viettel Burundi S.A.) is the newest telecom network in Burundi, it started to provide its services in April 2015; However, Lumitel has made positive progress. With the advantage of network coverage, network quality, Internet speed and cheaper price, Lumitel attracted more than 1.5 million active subscribers to date.

Besides this project, Viettel Burundi has developed a project that provides free Internet access to schools, universities and hospitals across the country. To date, the project has linked 42 schools in 17 provinces and will continue in the near future.
